Stratford’s Skipper Puts his Faith in Town’s Twelfth Man

Jimmy Fry knows Stratford needs to start putting points on the board if they are to keep their promotion push on track, starting with the home game against Rushden today.

Stratford’s skipper recognises the importance of every game from here on in and this afternoon’s encounter is no different.

“We’ve got ten games to go now and our destiny is in our own hands,” Jimmy said.

“How the fixtures fall, the teams we have left to play, it is down to us, and that begins this afternoon in a massive match against Rushden.

“Without putting any extra pressure on the lads by calling this one a must-win, it’s the first of ten, that we have to be looking to get positive results.

“The majority of which, have to be wins, because that’s the pivotal stage of the season that we are in.

Jimmy realises results haven’t been great of late but is calling on the fans to make the difference today and pull the team through this difficult patch.

“Playing at home does massively help us,” he said. “It’s been a bit of a funny time with results, they haven’t gone exactly to plan.

“There’s the potential for at times today, for things not to go as we would like and that’s when we really need the fans.

“We need the fans to get behind us and drive us forward through those periods in the game when Rushden are on top.

“It’s easy to be happy when things are going well, but it’s when we are up against it when we need that extra 10% to help turn the game around.

“For the next 10 league games, we need our fans. I’m sure it’s going to be a rollercoaster as it seems to always be, so a consistent level of support will be absolutely fantastic.”

Mikey Taylor made his comeback off the bench last week but today marks his homecoming and Jimmy believes it will give Stratford’s twelfth man a timely boost.

“It seems likely that he will be in the starting line up,” said Jimmy. “Especially with us being at home, I think the fans would love to see him back.

“It will be great for him to be playing in front of them again, and hopefully his return will give the fans some extra excitement ahead of today’s game.”
